Ring A Round..........
It was a very cloudy day. These clouds, being so high in the sky, are made from ice crystals. The properties of the ice crystals reflect and refract light in such a way as to cause a "ring around the sun". Since high clouds typically precede unsettled weather; it is said, a halo around the sun or moon means rain or snow is on the way.....we got both.
This "Halo" around the sun is also known as a "22 degree halo or sun halo", as they are seen quite often and in all seasons. The crystals bend direct sunlight, projecting it elsewhere into the sky and at a certain angle - you guessed it - 22 degrees - a halo or ring can be seen around the sun.
