Just another Wintry Blast.....

Ice Divers Over 70 (IDOS)
This first one is for you, eh - DJan
Would you be a dear and come away from that pond
for just a few minutes.......
....skate down the road
and pick up a quart of milk at the store........

That's the fun side - now the rest of the story - ice storms have hit Atlantic Canada since last Friday, thousands without power. Trees are down, you cannot even walk in your yard without spikes on yer boots. Trees are down, branches are down or almost down, power lines have inches of ice coating them, until they get so heavy - we hear a crunch - OOOPS - another branch fell off neighbour's tree and downed yet another power line.  We've had rain, freezing rain, ice pellets, then more rain, more freezing rain and more ice pellets and then more of all of that again. We are so lucky to still have power, although it keeps going out and returning - hastily I write this note, for I know not when it'll go out for good.  All snowbanks are now ice banks - makes life interesting here in the Maritimes and hope we'll be thawed out soon.
AND SO, the night before the night before Christmas -
not a creature was stirring in our small town and the trees,
and the power lines were all falling down.

Geeze...Send me to my room without any din din if I ever complain about Virginia weather. This sounds GRIM to put it mildly. Love that you got to the internet for a moment to post the fun photos and give us the update. Out here in the boonies our power is always going off and then coming back on. It is a continual nuisance. We only lost full power about once or twice a year and then it is a real pain. Hope you gals are hunkered down and warm and cozy in your house. Pray the limbs do not fall on the house. That would not be good. Merry Christmas my friend, genie

You've had an awful storm. I hope your power stays on and that you have a great Christmas.

Oh, I LOVE The IDOS! Not sure I want to be a part of this elite group, though. I am hoping you will all be safe and warm during the holidays, with electricity intact! Love you!! :-)

Oh Lilly, you have such terrible weather, it was on the news here too. Those poor trees losing all the branches and pretty dangerous too for the humans passing by. The first photo is wonderful like a skydive! I hope you will keep electric power to have a warm drink or so and wish you all the best and a Merry Christmas.

Love the first and the next to last photo, Lilly. The trees look unbelievable! And the children skating down the road... can't imagine such conditions. What beautiful and yet terrible winter this is...
